TIMELESS ADVICE FROM OCR PHYSICS EXAMINERS'

Advice that examiners tend to repeat each year

1. Learn all definitions in the specification.  Use the decks of Tinycards I have created.

2. Show all working in calculations – (i) write the equation, (ii) show how you rearranged the equation, (iii) show the equation with values substituted into it, and (iv) show the answer to 3 s.f..
This is especially important for questions in which you are asked to show that a quantity is about
 

3. Even if you are not confident you got a correct answer for a calculation continue with the rest of the parts of the question as you will get an error carried forward.
 

4. For longer written questions use bullet points to keep your answer logical and concise.
 

5. Practice using past papers (under timed conditions) and read examiner reports some of which are available on this page.
